Displays
Schoolroom |
The museum consists of many individual displays, a few of which are Education, Sawmill, Dairy Farming, Photographic, Transport, Military and many more.
The Education Display shows how the schoolrooms were in the 1800s and the early part of the twentieth century.
The Sawmill is a working model to show how the timber was milled in the days of the cedar cutters.
The Dairy Farming Display shows the equipment used in dairying and cheese making in the Macleay Valley.
Settlers' Cottage |
In the courtyard of the museum is the Settlers' Cottage. This building, built circa 1910 has been moved several times before being acquired by the museum in 1990. Both its collection of period furnishings and interior fittings are representative of the conditions and lifestyle of the late 1880s, but also are very close to those of the preceding fifty years. Some items featured are a source of amazement to the younger generation. To others they are a reminder of another era, particularly those with a rural background.
There are many other displays, so come to the Museum for a visit.
